Has anyone checked into what's going on in Springhill?  There have been several wells drilled recently and more permitted on the Western side of Springhill and out toward Bodcau. Looks like they are drilling vertical Haynesville and having some success with gas production. The next one permitted is:

Looks like most of the activity is being done by JAG Operating L.L.C.  I guess this is all vertical stuff. I wonder if there is potential here for horizontal in the Haynesville?  It has been reported that the Haynesville is not present this far north.  Looks like some folks were wrong.

You guys are about three years late to the party.  The Haynesville wells drilled by JAG, and many other small local independents in north central LA., over the last 30+ years are "sand" wells.  Not "shale" wells.  This was discussed endlessly in the early days of GHS.  Here is the Cliff Notes:  The Haynesville Formation extends in an arc from Central Texas to the Mississippi Gulf Coast.  Only in a limited basin defined by the Haynesville Play is the formation continuously productive shale.  Outside of that area the formation is sand.  Wherever you find long lived vertical wells, you have found the sand.  It is a conventional reservoir easily produced from relatively simple and less costly vertical wells which many small companies are capable of drilling.  If you do a search by parish or by field you will find hundreds of these wells.  They have nothing to do with the Haynesville Shale.
