Les, Thanks for the info. This begs a dumb question on my part. Why don't we hear and see more from Devon? Are they just sitting on acreage in Texas that is HBP? They certainly aren't active in LA...
Henry, Devon is drilling in East Teaxs but most of their acreage is HBP.
where is SWEPI?
CMK, Shell has not released any information regaring their net acreage position but I would guess they have ~ 200,000 to 300,000 net acres.
Quite a bit then, I also wonder about JW, they should have a large legacy leasehold in Elm Grove.
CMK, J-W and Samson were also two companies that I do not have their acreage position but agree it is not trivial in magnitude.
Where did you get these figures?
Morris, through a lot of data gathering.
Thanks for the compilation statistic work. I was surprised to see Devon with that position, because they were one of the first to pull back just before the July 2008 slump. Very conservative and smart move on their part, but it appears that they are going strong now. Well run company and they do have a lot of HBP acreage to develop.
BP also has quite a bit of acreage in the trend. Much of it happens to be HBP acreage that came along with Amoco back in 1999. Their Haynesville drilling activity isn't nearly as high as others on your list however they do have a plan and are aggressively pursuing shale plays.
