I read recently Encana says they are slowing down drilling due to the price of NG, like the other O&G.

This makes sense, the math does not work right now.
I hope things turn around soon though.
I still do not understand the little headway being made in the direction of utilizing more of the NG we have in abundance, in more ways.
The petroleum industry has its tentacles in us so deep we just can't see anything else.
Maybe it is as simple as people do not like change even when it is goods for them.

It's too bad, I had dreams of every 2-3 years a new well in our section until they reached 8 wells.
I don't think that will happen anymore. I will be lucky if I see a second well in the next 10 years the way things are going now. I will put the dream on the shelf for now. I can pull it back down when things start looking more promising.

Does anyone else have any ideas at what rate the O&G companies will build out sections in the coming years?

Crystal balls welcome. Card reading allowed.

Trick or treat!

Mrs. Jane said until the gas price stabilizes above $5.00/mcf the O & G companies will only drill as required to hold leases. With that said there has been A LOT of spending and work to build the P/L infrastructure in the HS area. This infrastructure is a great asset for the developement of the HS.
Jack Blake also does not understand why our government (local and national) don't provide enough incentives to make it economically feasable for companies to develop a large scale network of CNG refueling facilities. If Gov. Bobby was worth a shit he would get the federal/state funding to develop this refueling network in North LA.
The same folks that have us by the balls on petroleum are the same folks that can / could develop the LNG alternative. Gov. Bobby ain't that good if he can't make this happen.
Jack Blake has spoken
Jack, they (Encana) are not drilling the HBP until the last possible moment. Seems there has been a shareholder uprising. Looks like Enacana/Swepi stuck a big hog in the butt with a small knife. Do not look for much from Bobby, he has stars in his eyes.
I agree about Bobby having stars in his eyes. if he had any sense he would realize what a feather her could put in his hat (not just a feahter-he could wear a head dress!) if he developed a GREEN CNG consumer distribution system in his state!
He must be a dickweed! He came to Jack's Baptist Church saying he was a Baptist. Jack heard he has made many church services all over the state. I wonder if he teolls the baptists he's a Baptist, the pentecostals he's a Pentecostal, the catholics he's a Catholic etc....?
Bobby J. has always been a transparent self promoter. He embraced the RC when he converted to Christianity in his youth and wrote vile things about Christians of other faiths. This is nothing new and when his opponents tried to point it out they were shouted down. This says something fundamental about one's character when personal spiritual conviction shifts and changes so easily. Any one 60 or younger from this state has heard it time and again, there is always one who claims to change the way things are done and ends up being ineffective self promoters. (Bob Kennon, John McKeithen, Edwin Edwards, Buddy Roemer, Big Fos, Bobby "Piyush")
Joe, are you insinuating that Edwin Edwards lied? He was the last LA governor I voted for before I moved out west. I missed all the trials and scandals.

Every now and then someone would ask me about him, like when he told Congress that he did not ask his wife about $15k in cash on top of her dresser. Priceless.
Jack, sorry to disagree but Lousiana is very fortunate to have Mr. Jindal as Governor.

CNG refuelling stations are currently economic to develop even without government incentive dollars. All it takes is for consumers to begin purchasing NGV's to create the demand. For those people with access to residential natural gas, they can install a home refuelling kit. For LNG, it just takes fleet owners replacing their heavy duty diesel trucks with LNG fuelled trucks. The cost savings from the fuel would pay for cost of the new truck. There are companies willing to build the LNG fuel stations once demand begins to materialize. There is no need to force Lousiana taxpayers to foot this bill.
Les, I get my NG from Centerpoint. If I install a home re-fuel kit, I'm comitting to buy more gas from Centerpoint. Could Centerpoint offer some incentives for home refueling? After all, they have the whole local market. Or should I pay for everything so I can buy more of their product? Thoughts?
How much is Centerpoint charging you for a thousand cubic feet of NG?

If I'm figuring my bill correctly, it's over 10 bucks. How would that compare price wise to gasoline?
I heard Centerpoint does not mark up their gas but passes the price they pay along. So who is charging them 10 bucks a thousand? My last bill says $1.074 per ccf.. Could I afford to put that in my car compared to gasoline? Would that be competitive?
PG, a price of $10 per MMBtu would be equal to ~ $1.25 per gasoline gallon equivalent.
So $3.50 per MM would only be 40 cents or so gasoline equivalent. NG at the well head is 1/3 of what Centerpoint is charging..
Bill, you can check with CenterPoint to determine if they have a separate rate for the CNG fuel. If not, you should also check the rate for any incremental usage (this could be higher or lower than your current average).
