I don't do Spacebook but I may have to join - I understand the father/parents have an interesting site...possibly about extra-terrestials, etc. LOL!

The local sheriff thinks the parents' fears were genuine but they're launching an investigation. Also, I believe the FAA is getting involved. That balloon was something like 18'-20' in diameter and they kept it tethered in the backyard?

Maybe they were preparing for a space themed birthday party? You know how parents are about birthday parties these days, gotta be bigger & better than the other kids. lol

essay - As long as we don't mention any politicians, I think we're safe from getting taken to task.

Again, I would never diminish the emotions of ANY parents who go through this kind of trauma. I do urge that authorities continue to check on such things, though, as it seems too many adults these days want their 15 minutes of media fame. Glad the boy is safe. He'll have one heck of a story for show & tell next week. :0)

I heard that they were on a morning show this morning talking with Dianne Sawyer and the boy kept throwing up. Someone in my office suggested that the parents may have poisoned him to try to keep him from talking and letting the truth slip out. She said that the father didn't even seem concerned that the boy was getting sick on live tv. That is so sad...that parents care more about the publicity than they do about the welfare of their own child. =(
