Just finished checking out NPR's series on quest for shale gas...



Pretty good series. Was disturbed by some to the comments, though. NPR crowd usually a smart bunch, but don't seem to get it. To attain stable and cost effective energy right now, you have to deal with some side effects (externalities). All things being equal, I want to take the medicine with fewer side effects to treat my condition. What's so hard to understand about that? Natgas = mild headache. Coal = migrane.

I wanted to post last week about Cabot getting into trouble up in PA regarding fracking spills.

Selloff, was overdone, I thought and COG, has since recovered, however this is typical half-arsing behavior by E&P companies and especially service companies Haliburton, and generates negative PR when industry can least afford it.

I have noticed coal lobby has those new commercials out on CNBC about "clean coal" and the new clean coal plants they are building. I noticed how they have this sweet lady narrating who is executive for AEP, with her little sensible down to earth drawl. She reminds us of all our mommies or our 1st grade teachers. Now how could "clean" coal be a bad thing!

NG has snakeoil salesman/raider Pickens and wacko Jim Cramer doing the cheerleading. I am at least grateful for Cramer.

Tuscaloosa Trend Sits On Top Of Poorest Neighbourhood For Decades - Yet No Royalties Ever Paid To The Community -- Why??

In researching the decades-old Tuscaloosa Trend and the immense wealth it has generated for many, I find it deeply troubling that this resource-rich formation runs directly beneath one of the poorest communities in North Baton Rouge—near Southern University, Louisiana—yet neither the university ( that I am aware of)  nor local residents appear to have received any compensation for the minerals extracted from their land.
