Does anyone know of activity in Section 11, 13N, 14W by/for Mainland Resources? Mainland Resources is an interesting stock play.

Mainland Resources has never drilled a single Haynesville Shale well. They owned the lease rights to several sections in DeSoto Parish and participated as a working interest in the wells which were drilled by Petrohawk. They recently sold their rights for a few million dollars. They have been involved in the promotion of a prospect in Mississippi that they call a "Haynesvill Shale" well. They need money as they just lost their joint venture partner who pulled out of the well. A lot of small time hucksters now use the name "Haynesville" quite liberally as it has a certain attraction for ill-informed investors. They are less than interesting in many respects but especially as a stock play. Avoid them at all costs.
MNLU filed the following with the SEC: Item 8.01 Other Events.
Update on Preparations to Initial Cotton Valley/Hosston Well on East Holly Prospect
On May 4, 2010, Mainland Resources, Inc. (the "Company" or "Mainland") issued a press release announcing that the Company, as Operator, is preparing to drill its first Cotton Valley/Hosston well on its East Holly Prospect in northwestern Louisiana.
Mainland and Brammer Engineering, Inc. have entered into a Contract Operating Agreement dated April 1, 2010 relating to the first of three wells that Mainland is planning to drill in the Cotton Valley/Hosston and Upper Bossier formations of the East Holly Field. The initial well is to be drilled in Section 11, T 13N-R14W, DeSoto Parish, Louisiana, to test these formations. Brammer will act as contract operator for Mainland Resources, Inc.
Mainland has initiated the drilling and site preparation necessary to spud the well on or before June 15, 2010.
Brammer Engineering is a highly qualified contract operator that has been active in the Louisiana and Gulf Coast Region for 40 years. It has drilled over 130 wells and acted as operator on more than 300.
Detailed analysis of the Cotton Valley/Hosston and Upper Bossier formations on the East Holly Field has been facilitated by review of the drill logs obtained from the Company's previous Haynesville Shale joint venture partner, Petrohawk Energy. The four recent wells drilled by Petrohawk on Mainland's leases calculate as productive from all three formations.
The rights retained by Mainland in all formations above the base of the Cotton Valley formation in the East Holly Field encompass 2,745.65 net acres with an estimated 65 net potential drilling locations.
Depending on results of the Upper Bossier formation, the total completed well cost is estimated at between US$2 million and $2.25 million dollars.
Mainland will fund 100% of the costs of this initial well.
A copy of the press release is filed as Exhibit 99.1 hereto.
Important Additional Information Will Be Filed With The SEC
Alan, Mainland may have retained the rights to the depths above the Haynesville but they are not an experienced or capable operator as exhibited by their contract with Brammer Engineering. As to highly qualified, well I'm sure Brammer thinks they are and would like others to do likewise. This is all hype, plain and simple. And a majority of the members of GHS have discussed Mainland Resources extensively in the past. IMO, this dog will not hunt here. I suggest that you try somewhere else.
Wow that's a real nice infomercial in that link above.

Looks like the only factual information in this "Press Release" is found in the following sentences of the disclaimer notice at the bottom of the page...

"An investor is such securities should be prepared and able to bear a loss of his or her entire investment."

and

Lake Media Group "has retained a marketing fee of between $50,000 and $100,000" for this direct marketing recommendation"

Enjoyed the infomercial though, so here's a few more right back at ya in kind.....

D. Gaar, I would delete my previous responses in favor of yours if I could. I think you convey the correct reaction to this discussion topic and do so in a much more entertaining manner than my poor attempts. LOL! Well Done!
Skip, if you really want a chuckle then you should go over to YouTube and check out some of the "re-mixed" versions that Slap-Chop infomercial that people have posted. Warning to set your coffee cup down first, however, or you're gonna need a new computer screen....
