Hi

I was wondering if there were some materials issues in shale gas production or/and transportation (for ex corrosion) ?

Lots of water is used (mixed with chemicals), the temperature of the shale gas might be in the range of 86-140F (good for bacteria)  so the extracted gas might not be so dry and may as well carry some impurities.

Does the extracted gas need to go through cleaning processes (in order to meet pipeline transportation specifications)?

Thanks for your input.

Marc, gas produced from the Haynesville/Bossier Shale is treated for removal of CO2 & H2S (when necessary) and dehydrated for water vapor removal.  Typical gas sales pipeline specifications include the following limits:

2-3% CO2

4 ppm H2S

7 lb/MMcf water vapor

120 F temperature

Shale gas production is not significantly different than many other formations.
