We have been approached by a Landman in Carthage Field area Shelbyville, Texas to buy our parts of 12 acres which is in a 124 acre area. The 12 acres has the horizontal well on it. It has been producing since Oct 2010. After a lot of research the land owner paid back taxes and claimed the whole 124 acres and leased it out. We never knew this existed. After everyone declined his offer and the truth came out from the landowner and the landowners lawyer and the RRc attorney   We own the Mineral Rights on the 12 acres. There are supposedly 2 other wells on the south end of the property. We were told to contact the Drilling Co and give them our names. Which we did. The drilling co told us they were so far behind it would be a while before they would send their own land man to get with all of us. That came from the Royalties Dept. Question #1 Landowner says he owns the surface and we own the bottom. His lawyer said the same. What should be our next step?  Question #2 How do we know what this well is producing and what we should be paid? Question #3 Where is our money now. The landman said He was sure there was money in our names. Question #4 The landowner could not give the drilling co a clear title because of all of us. The drilling co. told us they would still buy us out, Dont think so. We really need an inexpensive way to see what we need to do. The lawyer at this point just pushed us back to the drilling co.

Tuscaloosa Trend Sits On Top Of Poorest Neighbourhood For Decades - Yet No Royalties Ever Paid To The Community -- Why??

In researching the decades-old Tuscaloosa Trend and the immense wealth it has generated for many, I find it deeply troubling that this resource-rich formation runs directly beneath one of the poorest communities in North Baton Rouge—near Southern University, Louisiana—yet neither the university ( that I am aware of)  nor local residents appear to have received any compensation for the minerals extracted from their land.

This area has suffered immense environmental degradation…
