Hello Everyone,
My parents leased their land in Natchitoches Parish five years ago for very little. The lease is set to expire next March 2011. There is a re-lease clause in the contract.
My question is...Is there anyway to get out of the re-lease clause? I'm afraid I know the answer but was hoping someone had a magic remedy.

Thanks,
Dennis

If they send you a check to renew, be sure to check that the check comes on time, including being postmarked before the deadline. Don't cash it if it's late. A number of people have reported that they have not gotten renewal checks until after the deadline. I don't know if anyone has actually gotten out of a lease this way.

How many acres is it for?

Section, Township, Range?
The lease is for 40 Acres. I'm not sure of the exact location but I believe the Township is 09W and Section is 01. The Range I don't know.

Thanks for the info. I was afraid of that.

Dennis

This area has suffered immense environmental degradation…
