Haynesville Shale could become nation's largest gas source within six years, CEO says

The Haynesville Shale formation in northwest Louisiana will become the country's largest source of natural gas production within six years, Chesapeake Energy Corp. CEO Aubrey McClendon said.

The Haynesville formation will, in turn, be eclipsed by the Marcellus Shale in Vest Virginia, Pennsylvania and New York by 2020, McClendon said at an investor conference in Miami.

Chesapeake Energy is the second largest independent gas producer in the United States after Devon Energy Corp
