I've gotten word alot of landmen are working on a new play from Dixie Inn north along Dorcheat. Offers are 300 per acre and 25%. Would guess it is liquid.

I really hope someone warns them about CHk.
Catfish, Do you have or can you get the name of the company who is actually getting the leases signed. If I knew that I might be able to find out who they are buying the leases for (operator).
XTO has been taking some leases near the state line in Webster. Dunno if that's who Catfish is referring to though.
XTO has been active in Webster Parish for years. They have drilled Cotton Valley, Haynesville, Gray and Smackover vertical wells. XTO has permitted 14 wells in Webster so far this year. On pace to be a very active year as they permitted zero in 2011and ten in both 2010 and 2009. I don't think they would be offering the lease terms mentioned by Catfish for vertical wells to those same horizons. There is so much leasing going on in NW LA it's hard to attribute efforts to specific formations and companies at this time. So far we see Anadarko/Haynesville in north Caddo with a small overlap into Bossier and Petro-Chem with horizontal Annona Chalk in north Caddo and horizontal Pettet in north Bossier Parish.
Aubrey, unless it is usual practice to have more than 15 land persons in the records at the court house at one time, there may be more than one company involved. As I posted on another thread, Texla Oil contacted us as well as other land owners along the Black Lake Creek ( Crow Creek on older maps ) irn T19N, R8W, sec. 8 and 9 and to the north. Towards the south is hbp in the Minden oil field. They are pulling records of property along the dorcheat and black lake basins as of now.

Thanks Skip. Any idea who this company may front for or are they an independent with the ability to conduct their on E&P. They gave us the impression on first contact.
Jack, Texla Oil looks to be a land company leasing for an unknown client. That client could be an operator or a speculator. Texla Oil is not an operator at least in the state of Louisiana as they are not listed as such by the Office of Conservation.
Davy P. LaBorde is listed as an attorney and Richard J. Hamilton is listed as Oil & Gas Land Leases Properties & Royalties.
JackB2, Yes, there are others who are offering leases for unknown clients. And I beleive there are several operators trying to lease in the area.
Miller Land Professionals have also been leasing in Webster as of late. No clue who they are or who they're leasing for.
Andrew, Miller is leasing for Whiting Petroleum Co. They have leased a lot of land near me. All that I know about what they have leased is from Claiborne/Webster Parish line for about 8 miles west. off south flank of NS-RR field beween NS-RR field and Shongaloo Field. May extend South of Shongaloo Field. I know quite a number of persons who leased to Miller. XTO has leased some small acreages adjacent to me to complete unit to drill Hardaway well and Miller well.
Shale drilling and lithium extraction are seemingly distinct activities, but there is a growing connection between the two as the world moves towards cleaner energy solutions. While shale drilling primarily targets…

AboutAs exciting as this is, we know that we have a responsibility to do this thing correctly. After all, we want the farm to remain a place where the family can gather for another 80 years and beyond. This site was born out of these desires. Before we started this site, googling "shale' brought up little information. Certainly nothing that was useful as we negotiated a lease. Read More |
