I believe ShaleGeo is saying the leasing company will sell the lease to the operating company for a higher price than what they paid you for the lease. And/or get a higher royalty rate than what they paid you. In THEORY, you could get a better deal by dealing directly with the operator.

You should get paid based on the terms of your lease, no matter what the operating company pays the leasing company. For that matter, the leasing company owes you the payment even if the operating company doesn't make the required payments to the leasing company.

In THEORY that is. I believe the operating companies usually buy the leases and handle payments themselves.

So, I guess nobody knows whether this company is actively leasing in the HS play? I guess the discussions concluded then.

I got a low ball offer from them in early summer 2008 in Bossier parish, seems like they pulled out of the play shortly after that.
