I have seen ranges of pricing from .25 to .50 cents a barrel. I believe pricing could depend on a host of factors-essentially how many sources they have available to them. Regarding size, if they are deperate for water, size limitations will probably be smaller. More important will probably be your proximity to the drilling site.

Hi Renee. I wanted to chime in on Keith's response to say there is quite range and $.25 to $.50/barrel is quite common, with the variability caused by many factors including:

  • availability of alternate sources
  • distance to destination
  • quantity on hand

Very small ponds, with only partial frac coverage would be valuable only if larger sources were not available.  That said, I'd still recommend you register your pond. You never know what the demand may be!

I have 35.4 acres with 3 average size ponds on it but of course right now they are not full due to low rainfall for last year.  I will discuss  to register them with my husband.  Thanks for the information!
