Attached is the Southern Region presentation, which includes the Haynesville Shale, from QEP's Analyst Meeting.

 

QEP plans to lower their operated drilling rig count for the Haynesville to only two in 2012.

 

On Slide 20 QEP shows depicts a possible 40-acre pilot project to determine if additional horizontal wells are required in the upper and lower portions of the Haynesville Shale to optimize gas recovery.  QEP said this pilot would not occur before 2013 at the earliest.

In researching the decades-old Tuscaloosa Trend and the immense wealth it has generated for many, I find it deeply troubling that this resource-rich formation runs directly beneath one of the poorest communities in North Baton Rouge—near Southern University, Louisiana—yet neither the university ( that I am aware of)  nor local residents appear to have received any compensation for the minerals extracted from their land.
