Kirk, this could be the result of a bad frac job or a geologic feature such as faulting. The water rate is just frac fluid being flowed back but it is higher than other wells in the area. Comstock has drilled some reasonably good wells in the area so this well seems to be an anomaly.
By the way, 17700 ft is the measured depth. The True Vertical Depth (TVD) was 12415 ft which is similar to other wells in the area.
I noticed this is the same well that Dan Aaron was speaking of. It was stated that most likely this well would go HBP...does this mean some type of production maintained in order for Comstock to keep the lease? Also what if any would a Pugh agreement play into such an arragement?
Mr. Aaron states that he will receive royalities the end of September...so does that mean that everyone still gets a division order in this type of situation?
When I did a little exloring on Sonrise I saw where the well was returned to sales on 8-5-2011. Do not understand if it is a bad well why it is in sales? The detail of the drill pipe stuck at 14508' and left fish in hole and sidetracked without setting cement plug. This could have contributed to a bad frac job...Makes me question why Bob Gray LA DNR gave verbal approval to sidetrack around fish without setting a cmt plug.
This seems a muddle to me and I feel for the landowners in this situation.

AboutAs exciting as this is, we know that we have a responsibility to do this thing correctly. After all, we want the farm to remain a place where the family can gather for another 80 years and beyond. This site was born out of these desires. Before we started this site, googling "shale' brought up little information. Certainly nothing that was useful as we negotiated a lease. Read More |
