Just received a letter to form a drilling and production unit for sec.25 T12N R9W in Red River Parish. The survey has been completed and the well pad/road marked. Are there any questions that we should ask during the meeting? We are leased by Encana and they have paid the damages for the well pad. This letter was for l unit, however, a couple weeks ago we received a letter concerning 11 units being formed in Carrol Creek Field that is next to Sec 25/26 that we own land in. We are new to this well business as is a lot of others. I enjoy reading and learning from this site. Any help is greatly apprecialted.

Unless you object to the unit, there is nothing to be concerned about.
I think that sec 33 is already a unit
sorry, it is sec 28 that is already a unit.
Thanks for the clarification, BJ.
Skip, after looking again, I'm even confused. I only looked at the HA unit page when I printed all the units, as I looked the paper work over after you asked, it looks like sec 33 is in bold letters on the Ha and CV maps and not the HF map? Anyway, it shouldn't be long before the paper work is up because we received another letter saying no one asked for a Pre-meeting. I told you that I'm knew at this!BJ
BJ. You may be new but you're learning. And the input of all the members regardless of their experience level is appreciated. And of value. Pre-conference notice letters to create Drilling & Production (D/P) units are the first meaningful indication of intent to fully develop. One well can be drilled ":non-unitized". In order to drill the maximum number of wells in a section, the operator needs a unit order. An HA unit order gives the operator the right to drill as many wells as the spacing regulations allow. In the case of HA units, 80 acre spacing = 8 wells in a regular 640 acre section.
Skip, thank you," you're toooo kind." Will keep things posted as I receive them...BJ
Just received another letter saying no pre-meeting, so it show up on line before long. (Sec25-T12N-R9W)BJ
The meeting in Baton Rouge is Dec. 8th. on S25-T12N-R9W. What's the next step to drill?(letters,Pre-meeting,Baton Rouge?) I know I'm probably putting the cart before the horse, but my question is, since we know the well pad is on family land, should my inlaws get a lawyer? What kind of questions should they/we be asking? IN NEED OF HELP.BJ
BJ, the unitization process is completely separate from the well drilling process.

For the unitization process the meeting in Baton Rouge is essentially just a formality. Forming a unit does not necessarily mean drilling is imminent. Some units that were formed in 3rd Qtr '08 still have not been drilled. Of course since the well pad is on your family's land, you should be more informed regarding the timing for drilling in the section.
