Skip or any other SME's I received an application notice on 23 November 2020 for 2 CHK HA CUL's (ONEAL 8&17-14-16 1HC & ONEAL 8&17-14-16 2HC) then crickets until CHK contacted me to particpate as a WI owner on 1 April of this yr. Curious if this lag is somewhat standard or is there a *standard* time frame from application to an actual spud date? In this case Covid was sandwhiched in between the application & spud (spud was 18 May 2022) but how far out are drilling ops. *typically* planned for? Too broad or pointless question perhaps?

If the application you refer to is an alternate well application resulting in a field order, it is valid indefinitely until drilled or dissolved by a subsequent field order.  I suspect that the AFE timing is more tied to the drilling schedule than to the field order.  As to the actual time frame you mention,  the well cost likely increased significantly from November 2020 to April 2022.  Field services, supplies and materials have been going up continuously over that time frame as the rig count has been rising.

it is cheaper and more efficient to file an application for more wells than are currently included in the year's drilling schedule.  When we see application for 6, 8 or 12 wells, it should be obvious that they will drilled in groups over time that match the pipeline take away capacity.  It is easy to file a subsequent application to change the well slots.  The applications use the words, "in leu of".
