We are in a gas unit and are being paid monthly.  For the month of May we were paid for month of March.  Is it usual for companies to be two months behind in royalty payments?

Yes.  St. Mary Energy has just paid me and my sister for November/January/February, the first written communication from the company since they signed our leases in 2008.

For these folks (and apparently for their computers!), 2-3 months is fast for royalty $$ !

What happened to December?
In March, I received mine for Nov., Dec., & Jan. Then in April I received the one for February, May , I got March's, &now I just received April's . call the number listed on your invoice and they will explain it to you. I'm just happy to be getting these royalties check. Hooray!

Mine comes like clockwork, same well as Martha.  Crimson paid us fast, compared to some of the other companies,

I have only received payment thru month of March.  Do I understand you correctly that you have also received check for the month of april?

yes this is very typical.  Here is the reason why.  Take for example gas is pumped during the month of March.  Gas is then sold in April, money is received for the sale of gas, posted to the ledger and then posted to the royalty accounts during the month of April for the May check run.  So if you company is paying you on the 15th, then you are actually only about 45 days behind because even though it says March production, it goes through March 31.

I wouldn't complain if I were you. Have a well owned 50 percent by swepi. Started producing in december, have yet to see one red cent from them. people tend to worry about the mom and pop companies, think the majors are the masters at sticking to people.
