There has been an offer of $20 per acre for seismographing in NW Sabine County. Those of us in this area feel the offer is much too low and we are feeling that we should ask $40 per acre. We were told by some folks in Shelby County that $40 is the going rate in that county. Does anyone have any information as to what the rate should be in Sabine County.

In researching the decades-old Tuscaloosa Trend and the immense wealth it has generated for many, I find it deeply troubling that this resource-rich formation runs directly beneath one of the poorest communities in North Baton Rouge—near Southern University, Louisiana—yet neither the university ( that I am aware of)  nor local residents appear to have received any compensation for the minerals extracted from their land.
