There's a rumor that Devon is suspending further activity in NW Shelby County. This includes Samford 1h. Can anyone confirm?

Where is the rumour originating? Landowners? Landman? Direct conversations with O&G?

Would be interested to hear more about this potential development as our own minerals are located in the area.

Devon does have their conference call scheduled for Wednesday, so it will be interesting to hear if they have any information regarding what their plans are to divulge at that time.

I did, however, just take a quick look at Shelby County Courthouse online records and there are leases filed as recently as last Thursday and Friday that were for acreage in NW Shelby so the filing of those new leases would be a bit of conflicting information to the rumour.

Keep us posted on what you might hear.

You might also want to post the question in the Shelby County group, or the Leased By Devon group for more current info.
My information is not direct, but the source could be reliable. What's interesting is that the Sampson 1h pad has been prepared. Also I have heard that future activity on leased property in the immediate area which Devon had planned has been put on hold. I hesitate to be more specific at this time. Hopefully this is just a temporary pause.
Devon has applied for a 900 plus acre unit in Sabine Parish with an additional 6 wells - T7 R13W - this may have triggered the rumor mill.
900 acres is a very big unit. are you sure that is the correct number of acres?
kj
KJ, yes - these are 960 acre units to allow Devon to drill long lateral James Lime wells. Nothing to do with Haynesville/Bossier Shale drilling.
shaleeee--what does devon in sabine parish have to do with shelbly county texas?
kka--Is rumor only NW Shelby around Tempson-Tenaha area and not including NE around Joaquin area?
Where is Devon around Joaquin?
Marg, Devon is not around Joaquin at the moment. The two rigs (which were drilling west of Joaquin), on the May #2 and the R. Dean Hay #1H, appear to (both) be off of those locations as of 8-13-10. I imagine that the rig on the R. Dean Hay was in the middle of the move to the R. Dean Hay #2H (15' skid) but I am not certain what is going on with the May #2H.
jffree1-- is the GIS map on Baker Hughes not correct because as we discussed earlier it still showed the Patterson UTI-rig# 523 still on the May #2 site as of the 08/13/2010 report--Is this not correct?? Also of interest it shows May well a icon that it is a OIL well play??
adubu, I can't tell you what goes on at Baker Hughes. I am telling you that Rig Data doesn't have the Patterson UTI rig 523 on ANY well in East Texas, TRRC Dist. 5 or 6, N. La., Miss., Ark. or Ok. as of last Friday.

Did they go Tite Hole and drop off of the report entirely? Did the rig have a major malfunction? Did they plug and abandon? Are they moving in a bigger rig? I don't have the answer to any of these questions and they are all possible reasons for why Rig Data does not show a rig on the May #2H. Take your pick...

If you are in the area, or know someone in the area, go look or ask someone to go look. That is the only way to find out for dead certain if there is still a rig on that site.
RSV2003--said he goes by the R. Dean Hays everyday maybe he will check it out for us
