Encana has permitted to this formation in north Desoto. I have heard that Petrohawk has 2 test wells to the Smackover in south Caddo. Is this a 3rd gas formation or part of Bossier and or Haynesville?

I have heard both names mentioned in the area a lot.
I have heard the same stuff. I have stuff in Northern Morehouse Parish and have not been called. I have also heard the rumors of CHK and EOG. Your post matches up with what I have heard.
I think they are trying to tie up as much as possible. Given the amount of technology and research already into this area. It may be more than 1 company other than Pinebelt involved in this. Has any 3D seismic been done recently over in that area?
If anyone is listening please help answer these questions: My husband and I are residents of South Caddo, Sec 22 T16N R14W, our lease is up in May not sure if Camterra will renew (lets hope). We have heard a lot lately about this Smackover/Sasquatch, however, we don't have a depth clause in our lease. So, we were wondering how this may of maynot affect our lease? In other words will the oil company be able to retrieve from any formation besides the Haynesville Shale and if so will we still receive the royalties? Any information will be greatly appreicated.
Since you do not have any depth restrictions they can theoretically drill to center of the earth. But, you will be paid for any oil and gas produced in your unit(s) in accordance with terms of your lease.
thank you so much. I really appreciate you taking the time to answer my questions.
Don't feel bad I have heard the same thing. You hear everything but the board helps. I am glad I found the web site.
Amen! GHS and all the experts here who share their knowlege rock howled Jack Blake!!!!!!!!!!1
No, the Smackover is older than, therefore deeper than both the Bossier and Haynesville Formation.
Given current economic conditions maybe others would give it more of a look. In terms of production where does the Smackover rank? I know it has been drilled a long time.
Is the Haynesville deeper than the Bossier?
Jack Blake thinks it is, but wants to know for sure.
