Tenaska Capital Management, LLC (TCM), an affiliate of Tenaska Energy Inc., plans to build a new natural gas gathering system with multi-market capability to serve the Haynesville shale formation in areas of East Texas lacking in gathering infrastructure.
TCM, manager of the $2.4 billion TPF II, L.P., a private equity fund, says the 140-mile gathering system will have an initial capacity of 500 MMcf/d, with an ultimate capacity of 800 MMcf/d achievable with the addition of compression.

The gathering system will traverse Nacogdoches, San Augustine, Shelby and Panola counties, providing greater takeaway capacity and market flexibility. A TCM affiliate is in the process of acquiring right-of-way.

Mike Latchem said the gathering system will begin deliveries in early 2010 to multiple existing major local and interstate pipeline systems in Nacogdoches County. The remainder of the pipeline connecting to multiple interstate and intrastate pipeline systems near Carthage, TX, will be completed by mid 2010.Tenaska To Build Haynesville Gas-Gathering System

NEW YORK (Dow Jones)--Tenaska Capital Management will build a 140-mile

natural gas gathering system to bring the fuel from East Texas' Haynesville

Shale gas field to local and interstate pipelines, company officials said

Thursday.

The gathering system will carry up to 800 million cubic feet of gas per day

and will begin deliveries in early 2010 to pipelines in Nacogdoches County,

Texas, Tenaska said. A second phase of the pipeline, to be completed in the

second quarter of 2010, will connect to pipeline systems near Carthage, Texas.

Omaha, Neb.-based Tenaska manages a $2.4 billion private equity fund and is

affiliated with independent power producer Tenaska Energy Inc. The company is

one of several, including Spectra Energy Corp. (SE), Energy Transfer Partners

(ETP) and Williams Companies (WMB), to develop pipelines to transport gas from

booming shale-gas fields. Recent improvements in technology have made it

financially viable to drill gas buried deep within shale-rock formations across

the U.S.

Although gas prices have plunged in response to robust supplies from

so-called shale plays, the Tenaska pipeline will still turn a profit, company

executives said. Officials didn't provide an estimated cost for the project.

"We believe the Haynesville formation will keep this pipeline operating at

capacity for years to come," Paul Smith, Tenaska Capital Management's chief

executive, said in a statement.
