Will the US have any in place before Copenhagen in December?

http://www.time.com/time/health/article/0,8599,1924295,00.html

from the article ...

"Despite hopes — and promises by the Democratic leadership — that the Senate would tackle cap-and-trade legislation this fall, it's looking increasingly as if the U.S. will go to Copenhagen with no national carbon caps in place."

Anyone care to guess what's holding this up? :0)

I think I know at least one Grillin' Master who may be happy! lol
FAIL BABY FAIL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Opponents of the takeover of Capitalism are cookin' with gas!

Yes, I'm very happy that we have not imposed a fine/tax on every family in the U.S. of over $1500 per year! I'm eccstatic that this bill is hung up in Congress and hope it never ever sees the light of day! Its a bad bill, bad policy and based on a "feel good" theory. It is also a job killer and will drive the price of almost everything we buy/consume up.

Fail Baby Fail List:

- Van Jones: Check
- ACORN: forever wounded and probably on their way out
- Crap and Tax: Getting pretty close
- Healthcare Takeover: looking better every day
- Czar Sunstein: next in line
- Democrat Majorities: gotta wait until 2010 to say buh-bye!
- Jimmy Carter: who? irrelevant
It won't be long before they put jimmy in the old folks home.
We need real markets for NG such as for transportation fuel. NG will not escape Cap and Tax.
How much of anything will average folks be able to afford after this Tax and Spend leadership we have now gets done with us?
Agreed! (huh?) Expand the market in residential uses, industrial consumption, and more electrical peakerrrrr plants. And, of course, provide tax credits for the purchase of monster gas grills for families of 4. :0)
Now sesport, while I'd love a big tax credit for my grill, I'd rather they just reduce the confiscation rate they have programmed into the tax code along with the phase outs of deductions and the death tax. How's about we use a flat tax, repeal the death tax. Oh, keep drilling/production credits and depletion. How about tax credits for businesses that provide healthcare for employees?
Will ya' throw in eliminating estate taxes 'cause I hear that ceiling is about to get lowered?

:0)
sesport: estate taxes = death taxes that I referred to above. Yes, the low life Leftists are going to lower the ceiling that GW pushed up. For one year, the ceiling is gone, then it gets clamped back down at earlier levels. All this does is dial up business for lawyers specializing in estate planning. There are ways around this tax to some extent, but its only cost effective for the very rich. And the lawyers make a ton off of it! I may spend the money even if it doesn't save me any just to keep the gov't from getting my money. Given the choice of a lawyer having my money or the government, its a tough choice, but at least I can choose the lawyer!

Oh, would you please answer Robert's question? I'm really interested in hearing your answer. Of course, I reserve the right to pick it apart and make fun of it!! Gotta Get Grillin!
Mmmarkkk - Are you going to hold Robert's feet to the fire and ask him to give his answer, too. S/He threw out the question, and I think it's only fair that s/he provides the first answer. I'm sure you'd want to hear both sides? After all, when you're grillin' you always want to both sides equal heat. lol

I'll give a preview ... from THIS article ...

"Senate majority leader Harry Reid told reporters on Sept. 15 that the Senate might have to wait to act on cap and trade until after tackling health care and banking reform. "We still have next year to complete things if we have to," he said."

My understanding of this is that it isn't a done deal yet. :0)
Robert - There ya' go trying to read my mind again. lol (Note to self: Tin foil covered practice mortorcyle helmet is very successful. Found a niche, find a backer and move from research & development phase to production & mass marketing. See if I can get air time on Beck's show.)

Tell ya' what, since you asked first, I'll let you answer first. Give us the point by point detailed analysis of why Cap & Trade will not work.

waiting - :0)
I think folks could cope better if non essentials were taxed. They could avoid purchasing those but heavily taxing essentials like energy, which would affect other essentials like food, transportation, etc., would put a real crimp on working poor and especially hurt senior citizens.
I've yet to see anyone quantify the benefits of capping carbon or taxing it. All we hear are theories!
Why should so many folks suffer because a few folks with green on their brains have managed to maneuver themselves into position of authority? This would make that Madoff fellow look like an amateur as scam artists go!
PG - Though I'm going off topic in my own discussion, I'll just say I'm getting that warm fuzzy again. Yes, tax non-essentials that affect health. This agreement is starting to give me a bit of a chill!

shudder - :0)
