What Price Are You Getting for Gas? Last Update: March 25, 2011

Hello Everyone,

Here are the latest numbers.  If anyone else wishes to participate and provide data for my survey, please follow the instructions below.  I welcome all data.

I am now asking each respondent to provide me the following:

Section/Township/Range -- everyone (if you are in Texas, tell me your county, and the survey)

If you get your check from Chesapeake, please tell me:
Price received (before severence tax)
Does your lease entitle you to cost-free royalties?

If you get your check from one of the others,  please tell me:
Company you leased to
Company who is operating the well
Gross price
Please tell me each deduction, and the amount.
Net amount (before severence tax).  [I know, gross minus deductions ought to equal net, but I just want to make sure.]
Does your lease entitle you to cost-free royalties?

If you are WI or UMO:
Company operating the well
Gross price
Please tell me each deduction, and the amount.
Net amount (before severence tax).  [I know, gross minus deductions ought to equal net, but I just want to make sure.]

Please send me the information via GHS email.  This discussion is getting too large, and sometimes a post gets lost if I don't check in for 24 hours.  All info will be kept confidential. I will continue to post back what I learn periodically. Thanks in advance.

Prices have been updated.  If I've misrepresented your data, please let me know.  And, if you've failed to send me data lately, it's not too late to send it.  Thanks for all of your help.

Don't everybody speak at once.  How can landowner 3 and landowner 6 on the first page receive different prices for gas from two different operators from the same well???  It appears to be a very large discrepancy for landowner #3.

Sorry GD,

My computer screwed up, and I had to totally reload the software.  Somehow, it's keeping me from making pdf files.  I'm still working on it.

In the case of owner #3, Petrohawk operates the well and sells the gas. Lease is to CHK, PXP bought a percentage of well from CHK. Petrohawk pays CHK and PXP. That is how you get multiple payers on the same well, same pipe line, same lease.
Landowner 3 has a lease with CHK that calls for cost-free royalties.  Obviously PXP is paying him royalties without the deductions, as called for by the lease.  The landowner has contacted CHK numerous times about his low payments from CHK, and is still trying to get his royalties to be cost-free.  So far, no success.

Landowner 6 has a well that deals with multiple payors.  As you can see, the data stopped a few months ago.  In this case, I'm told it is all a mess right now, payments have stopped, and the owner is waiting to get it stratightened out.

The number of screw-ups on payments that I see continue to amaze me.  The lesson, for all people getting a check, is to watch it very carefully.  Do not assume it is automatically right.

Henry,

I you can, please provide your data in a pdf file.

Thanks,

Linda

I took Henry's ".docx" file and converted it to a poor-man's PDF file, since some have issues with the docx format.

Regards,

Gary

Gary,

One million thanks.  I'll work on getting my computer better.

No problem!  It was trivial for me to convert it and post.
Thanks Gary 59.  Guess us "poor" folks need to get with the program and upgrade our PCs.... lol.
I still cannot get a pdf version out of my computer, but I uploaded a doc version to go with the docx.  I hope this is readable by all.  If not, let me know.
