Y'all have all been great about helping out, so here's another question/issue we need help with. As I mentioned in a previous post, our land surrounds 2/3 of a well on a 10 acre track. The attorney general said we were probably right and that the minerals were probably being sucked out from under us and suggested we talk to a lawyer. River Rouge operated the well to the first 1000 feet, but Chesapeake has leased the next level (I think to 2500?). Chesapeake is refusing to discuss a lease/settlement with us because they say that it is River Rouge who owes us, not them. I want to avoid a lawyer if possible because my husband is a teacher (and y'all know how rich that makes us.) So, sorry for the long story, but is River Rouge a part of Chesapeake (I thought they went out of business)? Any ideas other than to get a lawyer? Who should we talk to?

THANKS TO EVERYONE FOR THE ADVICE & INFORMATION! My brothers and I are going to take y'all's advice and consult a lawyer. Thank you also for giving us the River Rouge information. We are going to try and contact them today. Have a great weekend!
Olivia. I further suggest that the attorney(s) you interview are the real McCoy. Experienced O&G attorneys. Ones that have practiced in that particular field for at least five years. Not the last 16 months. LOL! Good Luck.
Olivia - If you look at the status of this business, it is not active by voluntary action. It appears to me that this business is closed, as you speculated. You may be able to track down the individuals, IF (again, big if) this is the company you mention.

It may be best to do as some of these members are suggesting and take it all up with a highly qualified attorney.

best & good luck :0)
If you need an extremely competent OG attorney allow me to recommend Phillip Downer.
Olivia,

The last response from Zydeco is correct. They are very much alive and in business. The correct names and addresses are posted above. There is a relationship between River Rouge and Zydeco but I do not know the extent of it.

Get an attorney.
I, also thought the company was closed. just investigated further.. I do wish to know about the information if the wells are to a certain depth by RRM and then owned/ leased by another Co. in the deeper depths ... ????? very confusing....
Zydeco,

I think you are correct.
I also wonder about the connection between River Rouge and Chesapeake?
We were told that the gas well managed by River Rouge went to one depth, but that Chesapeake has leased to a lower depth. Someone at Chesapeake confirmed that they intend to go deeper on the land and so we're concerned. The well is on ten acres, and we surround the ten acres on three sides, yet the well is not unitized. My brother called the LA attorney general and we've talked to few folks in NC and everyone seems to think that we are right, that minerals would be pulled out from under our land as well. It's a hot mess, so we're taking everyone's advice and getting a lawyer at this point.
Zydeco & cocodrie - Thanks for the additional info, which is why I qualified my posts by saying "big IF." There were several business listed when I looked them up, and without further specific information from Olivia I took a stab at it.

Bottom line, at least Olivia has some info now.

best - :0)
