I don't know exactly where this section is, E of 371, but yesterday I saw some new activity, lets see, turn east on pietsch road offa 371, continue until pietsch road turns off to the south, but continue straight, it becomes the old cc road, pass the pipeline they put in last year, and go about another mile, and on the left were 2 square stake things with tape around it, survey stuff, and go another 100 yards or so, and on the north side of the road, are 3 stakes, like they put down for a location road. They are flagged white, red, white. This may or may not have anything to do with the permitted well..........not sure!
Section 3 is right at the parish line with Webster. I had seen the large pad installation but the well wasn't showing up on Sonris as permitted. I see that it has been posted now and even another one in Section 9. Is there any way to tell which horizon direction the well is going by looking at the information on Sonris?
MP, the horizontal lateral for the horizontal well in Section 3 goes almost due south ~ 1100 ft from the eastern section line.

Petrohawk, Colvin 3 #H1 Well, Serial #241924, S3-T16N-R9W
I saw the sign for this well this afternoon. The well is located 1/2 mile east of US Highway 371 on Bronson Road. Bronson Road is just south of the Bienville/Webster Parish line. They have moved in the rig and are busy setting it up. The location is on the right side (south) of the road. You can not miss it. The rig is Keen Energy Services #40, I believe.
How do you know which direction the horizonal portion of the well will go?
MP, the well permit information in Sonris includes the surface location and planned bottomhole location (end of the horizontal lateral).

236' FNL (From North Section Line) & 1104' FEL (From East Section Line) OF SEC 3 (Surface Location). PBHL (Planned Bottom Hole Location): 250' FSL (From South Section Line) & 1140' FEL (From East Section Line) OF SEC 3
Thanks for the lesson in reading oil industry acronyms. Unfortunately my property is in the section directly north of Sec 3. Oh well, it's still good to have a well in the neighborhood. Thanks again!
it is actually on Bistineau Line Rd.
That is rite, not far from 371 and on the south side of bistineau line road! hope they continue East toward Fryeburg and Jamestown. my landman said there is a deep drop-off of the shale layer, to about 13,000 feet between 9w and 8w. Hope they head to 8w anyhow!
You're right. Sorry about that. I looked at the interactive map on Sonris and got the street name wrong. I should have paid attention when I drove out there. Thanks for staightening it out.
Are there anymore wells drilling or locations build in this area?
The Colvin 3H well is running pipe and building a 12" pipeline as of 11/05/2010. Has anyone seen any locations be constructed?
