Township 22 Bossier Parrish
Hello to all of you in Township 22. I don’t really know what is going on in that neck of the woods but I have been doing some thinking. If the shale does reach this area the township needs to pull together. If I understand correctly (I may not) a township can pull together and it is easier for the community and the company that wants to lease the land. (The company only has to send ONE LANDMAN not 100’s; this is less money they have to shell out.) Only one lawyer has to be hired to represent the community and the cost is spread among the community. So anyway I was thinking we might need to do something. If we could get a list going with some sort of contact information we would be ready at the first sign of a Landman. Thoughts / suggestions?

As of now, no landman in sight. I didnt know that we where in the shale, we had been told by a man from myoilpro.com that Plain Dealing was too far north. He did say that it may change and from what we're hearing, it has. I am looking forward to this meeting on the 26th. What does Township mean? We are 22, does it mean Plain Dealing. My husband is at work, I'm trying to figure out some things...I'm wondering also what companies are interested in this neck of the woods. I read something about Hillwood, a Ross Perot company???!! I do agree that if "they" are interested in our land that we should definitly form some kind of group.
We have acerage in T23 and were told also that it was too far north to be included in the 'shale.'
So what has changed?
Original geology dot com map shows the shale extending into SW. Ark. Don't listen to unqualified people about this. Sit back and wait!! There are too many rumors floating around! We may not be in it but from what I have heard from lots of old timers we are!
We own unleased acrerage in 23N and were told it might be in Cotton Valley Sand(we also have an old-producing well on leased land in CV in T23). Was told that area was too far north and no Haynesville up there, and that the most landowners in that area would be offered is $150-450 per acre.
So... is there a possibility that Townships 20 to 23N could be in the shale after all?

Who knows?
Bj,
I don't think anyone knows. That is why the companies are doing exploratory drilling. You have the Haynesville Shale then just above that Cotton Valley Shale (I think) and then in Arkansas the Fayetteville Shale.

From the research that I have done JP Morgan said
March 13, 2008
As we predicted last week, Petrohawk unveiled the Haynesville (a.k.a.
Bossier) Shale play at its analyst conference. This is the first time any large
public company has released details about this emerging play in North
Louisiana. Over the past week we surveyed our buy-side clientele, and less
than 5% were aware that this new play existed, and no investors were
pricing in any value associated with this play. Therefore, we believe that
stocks with exposure to this play like GDP and HK have significant upside
potential. Additionally, our research indicates that HK's parameters for the
play are conservative and that the Haynesville is likely capable of
producing 5+ Bcfe for $5-6MM, which would mean its economics could rival the Barnett and that acreage could be worth over $40,000/acre.

Now let me ask, when did they come in and start leasing the land? Some said they leased out in Dec for $100/acre.
Probably so. The only thing really new about this is the publics awareness. Chesapeake has been leasing quietly for two years and probably were picking up those leases in the $100-200 per acre range until late april, when the news broke. From early May until now the activity and the bonus amount has exploded due to competition. Industry officials say Cubic Energy has been drilling on the shale for four years.

We have property with mineral rights in TS 23 and the offers have started coming in.  The leases expired 2 or 3 years ago and everything has been pretty quiet until recently.  The latest offer was from Samson Contour and was a typical offer for this area of north Bossier/S. Lafayette. We haven't signed yet but will study the lease and hope to get some good advice and comments from the folks on here who are much more knowledgeable than I am.  I know that some of the property owners nearby have already signed. They were told that Samson will be drilling for natural gas in the Cotton Valley zone. I may be wrong, but I don't believe there is any gathering systems or transmission systems or treating plants anywhere near there. Please help me understand what to do in this situation and what they might be interested in.  Thanks,  Pro Hobbs

Who told you? Could be they don't know what they are talking about or dont' want you to know if you are in it?? ...Time will tell us all wont' it?
Has anyone learned anything new? What Co.? Oh and check out tigerdroppings.com under money talk...you'll see a whole conversation thread about north bossier, lol its very interesting!!!!! Ok just thought I'd say HI to everyone in T22!!!
PDMAN.....checked out the Tiger droppings....looks like a hole lot of droppings falling there! lol.....It will tickle my soul if those none believers are wrong!! Wonder how they know the shale can't go north but it can go in every other direction but up this way? It may not be here but there have been really good gas wells made up here lately in CV and Taylor zones.... I don't care where it comes from if it smells like $$$$$$$!
Another good CV well in Mott...oil and gas...but they will have to drill deeper up here to hit shale. I understand from professionals that it will be deeper and thicker up this way. Just hope that it will not be so deep it is not economically feasable to get. But I will take a good CV producer if I get one!
PD Man.. I have land very close to you (I think). I believe we are in it. Patience!!! It's coming.... When I can find out something, I will let you know. Have a good one.
