Latest SONRIS Lite report for Johnson 21 well:

7/10/12, 10507' RUNNING A 4 1/2" LINER.

So it seems total vertical depth of 10507' must have been reached. What is the significance of the 4 1/2" liner?

Mark, do we know that they have decided to do a lateral? The well is, from what I've seen. only permitted as a vertical as of now. I thought perhaps they were getting ready to perforate and fracture the well in an attempt at a vertical completion.

Sorry - got this well confused with a Tuscaloosa test in another area.

 

Vertical test / pilot hole to see if Brown Dense works is probably what SWN is doing here. If successful, sets up future horizontals.

Figure the 2+ plus weeks to drill 800' from intermediate casing point to TD included cutting whole core.

Still surprised they only ran 4 1/2" casing - figured 5 12" would have been the direction to take (more expensive but more options available)

Does anyone know if gas or oil present during the drilling operation at the Johnson 21well site. and has the Dean well been started yet. Hopfully they will perf and frac the 4.5 casing they are running.

Rig was moved out from Johnson well site this past weekend.  I understand they moved the rig to the Dole's site.

The Johnson 21 was reported as status 31 - Inactive Dry Hole; Future Utility - 7/27/12.

Well that dont sound good. Maybe they will do somthing with it at a later date. Maybe they will wait on the Dole and Dean well and frac all 3.

Looks as if SONRIS (and SWN?) is having trouble getting its story straight on the Johnson 21. The SONRIS Lite report of 8/13/2012 says: 08/13/12: WELL SHUT IN. WAITING ON COMPLETION.

I wonder if this has anything to do with the rigs getting stacked that Sarah Randolph referred to in the blog portion of the LSBD site? This is concerning.

Correct, obed.  That's why I posted it.  I know of no regulation that would cause SWN to report a status 31.  They could have left it a Status 6 for weeks if not months without the Office of Conservation objecting.

IMO, here's the more troubling situation:  The Dean well has been drilling 43 days and the Doles 36 days and there are no new well permits by SWN.  The Dean should have TD'ed days ago and the Doles should be reaching TD any day if has not already.  Where do these contract rigs go next?
