This is shown as a non-unitized Cotton Valley test and is not listed as a horizontal, but if not why is the permitted depth 14,000 feet. The Cotton Valley should be no deeper than 10000 feet in this area from what I've seen.

It's looks like a test well that will drill through the entire CV/LCV interval. Though permitted to 14,000' there is no guarantee that the well will be drilled that deep. I think that Nadel and Gussman would like to copy the successful Wildhorse well designs. That requires finding the right rock.
Thanks, Skip. Also, I see that the top of the Cotton Valley is shown as 10,100 feet in the Waggoner well in Section 9 of T19N R7W, so it is deeper than I had realized.

To drill through the entirety of the Cotton Valley group can take 1600 or more feet in some locations.
I don't think so. Then again the CV/LCV is a conventional reservoir so the only areas where horizontal wells would be economic would have to be very tight. rock.
Where you are seeing those horizontal wells are areas of very low permeability in conventional reservoirs. Those areas are generally limited in size.
Any specifics on lease offerings for property owners?

Shale drilling and lithium extraction are seemingly distinct activities, but there is a growing connection between the two as the world moves towards cleaner energy solutions. While shale drilling primarily targets…

AboutAs exciting as this is, we know that we have a responsibility to do this thing correctly. After all, we want the farm to remain a place where the family can gather for another 80 years and beyond. This site was born out of these desires. Before we started this site, googling "shale' brought up little information. Certainly nothing that was useful as we negotiated a lease. Read More |
