The Ozark Highlands Unit has 145,000 acres, most of this in the National Forest, under contract to Seeco (Southwest Energy). Listening to SWN’s  latest conference call makes it clear this is a lucrative drilling area for the company. Drilling in that unit was suspended effective December 1, 2012 because of two environmentalist lawsuits. Does anyone know when these suits will be settled? What progress has been made toward settling them? What action has the Forest Service or Seeco or SWN taken to resolve these suits?  Please share what you know.

The suits are combined now and involve litigants against the BLM and maybe the Forest service. SWN is not named as I understand. It is challenging the adequacy of the EIS - Environmental Impact Statement of the BLM. There is a cottage industry in tort that allows this and it a money printing machine for the environmental lobby.  Once a big chunk of change is forked over to the group, the Highland project will move forward. It is a common enough practice and you the taxpayer are paying for it.

Thanks Lerret for the update. Let me know if you learn anything more.
