Would anyone have an idea on the expected initial production from a horizontal Cotton Valley well in the Oak Hill field?

I don't find but two horizontals completed back in 2011 in the Oak Hill (Cotton Valley) field in Harrison County. One had an IP of 2.072 MMcfd and the other was @ 1.972 MMcfd. Both also produced a few barrels of condensate (16 & 12).

Thank you for the information.  Sabine is presently driling a horizontal Cotton Valley well in the J.D. Pinson Survey southeast of Hallsville.

The first well I mentioned, with the 2.072 IP, was in Pinson, A-544 by NFR (now Sabine) so I would probably expect their next effort to be somewhat better than the first one. They have plenty of experience and expertise at drilling tight sand formations but it may take some trial and error to find the right key...

Speaking of which... that first well only had a 2,088' lateral and the latest effort is permitted with almost 6900' of lateral so I would expect them to have a much better IP on this one. We'll cross our fingers for you.

Thanks again.  The well is the Faron Cain Gas Unit #14H.  My wife has a substantial interest in the unit.  We are definitely keeping our fingers crossed.

jffree1,

Do you have any information on the current status of the Faron Cain Gas Unit #14H ?

That rig spud the Sabine-SWEPCO #13H on the 9th so they have completed drilling. Now you just have to wait for final completion (frac). Remind me to check next month.

jffree1,  Do you have any more info on the Faron Cain 14?

Nothing yet. Usually, the first notice we (non-industry people) get that a well has been completed is that the operator will start reporting "pending" production. Production reports are two months delayed and if the operator reports late in the month it could be nearly three months.

So... what we know is they finished drilling in mid-January. If they had a crew lined up to complete the well right away (doubtful but possible) they would report initial production sometime in March for January unless they completed and then shut-in to wait on pipeline (doubtful, that unit has several older verticals so they only need to extend the gathering line a bit).

Waiting can be agonizing for a mineral owner and it could be summer before we know anything about this well. Just keep reminding me to look again. I look for production figures each month and Sabine has already reported for December so by mid-March their January PR should be in.

Building a pipeline from the well to a prior well to the east has already begun.  We are hoping for a very good well.

Yes... that is a good sign.

jffree1,    Any new information on the Faron Cain 14H?   Sabine announced in its 3d qtr 2013 report that it had drilled 4 Horizontal Cotton Valley wells in Harrison County in  2013 and that the average IP30 was 11.1 MMcfe/d.  Would these wells be relevant to guessing the IP on our well? (These numbers have gotten us excited.)            Tom

Mr. Mc,

Here is a picture of an Anadarko frac job on a Haynesville well. Your well will be similar so look for LOTS of trucks moving in.

The Lithium Connection to Shale Drilling

Shale drilling and lithium extraction are seemingly distinct activities, but there is a growing connection between the two as the world moves towards cleaner energy solutions. While shale drilling primarily targets…
