There was a Harrison County discussion a couple of years ago about who Sendero was leasing for. The landman who leased a tract from us north of Hallsville stopped by yesterday on another matter for a different broker and said that job is finished and Sendero has filed assignments on their leases in Harrison County to BP. I am going to try to go to the courthouse to look at the assignment. He said the assignment was made in April and there is still some work to do, but most of the 150+ crew members working on the project have moved on to other projects for other companies and are no longer working for Sendero. Kathy,
This makes sense. BP has a number of fields in the area (Cotton Valley, et al) and may still be interested in the Haynesville now that gas prices are on the rise. BP acquired 3D data over Blocker field, just south of Marshall, and also opened a new field office located between Hallsville & Marshall (south of I20) in 2009.
The Blocker program was, originally, part of a larger seismic campaign focused on the Haynesville. When gas prices dropped the remainder of the campaign was deferred. The Blocker program also yielded fairly nice & useful images of the Cotton Valley et al section. So this recent activity may be associated with either or both of the reservoirs.

In researching the decades-old Tuscaloosa Trend and the immense wealth it has generated for many, I find it deeply troubling that this resource-rich formation runs directly beneath one of the poorest communities in North Baton Rouge—near Southern University, Louisiana—yet neither the university ( that I am aware of) nor local residents appear to have received any compensation for the minerals extracted from their land.
This area has suffered immense environmental degradation…

AboutAs exciting as this is, we know that we have a responsibility to do this thing correctly. After all, we want the farm to remain a place where the family can gather for another 80 years and beyond. This site was born out of these desires. Before we started this site, googling "shale' brought up little information. Certainly nothing that was useful as we negotiated a lease. Read More |
