Thanks, Keith, for giving us this extra forum for discussion of "all things mineral" in Holmes County, Ms.   My family owns mineral rights near Tchula, and I am always scanning these boards for info about any news in the area.   Although I am sure there is no drilling activity yet, I am interested to hear what leasing experiences other owners have had, or what they have heard, regarding the future of this area.   

Since signing our lease last year, I have tried to educate myself about the whole O&G process, and this board has been an invaluable tool.   Thanks for all you do to help us newbies.   Exciting times are ahead, down the road somewhere.  My hope and prayer is that my grandchildren and this country will benefit from the oil that surely lies under the great state of Mississippi.   And if so blessed, I hope my family will be able to give back to the good people of Holmes County, so many of whom live in great poverty.

Tuscaloosa Trend Sits On Top Of Poorest Neighbourhood For Decades - Yet No Royalties Ever Paid To The Community -- Why??

In researching the decades-old Tuscaloosa Trend and the immense wealth it has generated for many, I find it deeply troubling that this resource-rich formation runs directly beneath one of the poorest communities in North Baton Rouge—near Southern University, Louisiana—yet neither the university ( that I am aware of)  nor local residents appear to have received any compensation for the minerals extracted from their land.
