Has anyone here been contacted by Cajun Exploration for permission to conduct surveys on your land? They sent me a letter wanting my signiture to givr permission to place cablrs across my land. they are offering $15 an acre.  The company rep has came to the house and told my wife if we do not sign, we may lose any or all royalties if production is started in my area.  The company who hired Cajun is Devon Energy.  This seems wrong to me. I can't understand what signing for permision to do a survey will lead to me getting my portion of my royalties from production. Any thoughts or comments?

Robby,

The last time I let seismic exploration take place on my property, they drilled holes and set off charges.  That was 30 years ago and they paid by the hole, $25.

Losing your royalties?  Tell that company rep to explain in writing on how your royalties will be lost if you don't let them access your property.

I would guess the $15/acre is a payment for letting them cross your property.  If you only have a few acres, they may need to cross it to complete their scan.  Ask them.

In the old days, a lot of folks had water wells and didn't want seismic operations to foul up their water or completely ruin the water well.  At the same time, they did want to encourage any thing that might put them on a map to be leased.  I don't know about how they do it today, maybe someone can give you a answer.

This reminds me of a letter I received about 2 years ago. Some crawfish logo'd company would pay me $25.00 to be able to run Seismographic equipment on 1 acre of our land to assist Chesapeake Operating with their search and production of Minerals. If I had sold, they would have received everything that the 1 acre would produce. Meaning for the Production month of January 2010, they would have received $35.00. To tell you the truth, I wish the State could do more to increase our Royalty amounts. We were getting 1% of production with KCS / Petrohawk on one well. Now on another well they are paying us .77 % Maybe we need to form a Royalty Coalition. Where everyone in the Unit Acre is in agreement not to accept what's offered.
I believe this is a project that has some acreage I watch over in the Rock Corner Area.  I had previously contracted to allow the project to come across the property.  In late July I was contacted and told that this project was about to kick off.  Does anyone have word on the progress?

I had an e-mail from Jay Frantz a href="mailto:jayfrantz@cajunexploration.com">jayfrantz@cajunexploration.com>  at Cajun Exploration.  He said that CE has no activity in Louisiana.
