A person was quoted in the McComb Enterprise-Journal yesterday (06/06/2012) saying:
"Boland said PAR officials are still deciding on the most effective locations to put oil rigs, but she noted that a well operated by another company just north of town off of Interstate 55 is not producing."
The town spoken of is Summit and I assume the Moak Heirs well. Does anyone know if she means the well was a "dry hole", was shut-in, or not completed?

The No. 1 Moak Heirs 23-5 well was completed pumping 31 barrels per day. I'm sure that's not the volume they were hoping for but at least it is producing.
Recordman -- Apparently this was a vertical well, as it was on a 40 acre plot. I thought I read somewhere that it was called a "test well". Do you know if that is true?
I don't know anything about this being a "test well" but I guess it could be. Wish I knew more about it.
According to the Southeastern Oil Review this is an outpost well (not sure what that means). The article also states that there is another well about 1/2 mile west southwest that is pumping 157 barrels per day, the No. 1 Cain et al, completed by Larco Drilling Co. I think this answers my question. Apparently a test well drilled to recover core samples.
