It is time for the Mississippi site to have the discussions about Mississippi wells.

There are 5 new pending permits and petitions before the board--two by Goodrich and 3 by EnCana.

There is a South offset to the Crosby Well and a proposed a well to the SE in 2N 1E. These are in Wilkinson.

EnCana has proposed 2 wells adjacent to each other north of the Ash Wells in Amite.

There is also a proposed well in Sections 5 and 8 in 1N 4E in Amite.

The procedure so far has been to get a force integration permit--to force the landowners to lease; then not drill the wells immediately. (This is an abuse, particularly by EnCana, by which they use the force integration statute to help get the prospect leased--then they don't drill before the force integration permit expires.  They drill instead when they are good and ready.)

But, being in a unit is a hell of a good start even if it doesn't get drilled immediately--and it looks like poor ole Mississippi is getting more than its share of permits.

Where are you getting your information about proposed permits before the Mississippi Oil and Gas Board?

Also, there IS already a Mississippi Tuscaloosa Marine Shale discussion site...it just hasn't been used much.

This discussion IS posted to the existing MS TMS group.  Only Keith has the ability to create a new group.

LOL...I didn't notice...thought this was on the Louisiana Tuscaloosa site.

Regardless,  I'm in for whatever TMS discussion folks want to have.

I'm still curious about the source of info on these proposed permits...I know some letters have gone out and some newspaper notices have been printed, but I haven't seen as many as folks are mentioning.  So, would love to know the source of the info.

I went by the Oil and Gas Board. I live in Jackson.

Ahhh...I called them and they said MAYBE Friday they would publish.

You are saying 5 applications...others have totaled 8.  So, there are either some coming to O&G board too late for the August meeting or they will get in at the last minute.

Still, permit apps are a good sign.

I was there Monday. Might be one or two filed since then. Also, there were one or two that were renewals of old permits. I didn't count them.

They are an indicator that things will pick up in 2014.

Have you heard anything about an oil pipeline?

Yes...I have heard....2nd hand...that Genesis is planning on running an oil line from Liberty and meeting in Centreville with another in Wilkinson County that will deliver to Port Allen.

Makes sense....provides a market for the oil other than to Baton Rouge refineries.

Infrastructure. A very good thing.

And expensive. They must expect to avoid a lot of trucking costs in the coming years. Lot of trucking costs means a lot of oil.

I posted in the comment section week before last, I think it was, that I was finalizing the leasing of some minerals in Wilkinson county and right when that was going on I was contacted by different landmen looking to lease some of the minerals.

In talking to one of the landmen he went on to say that there were several units being formed for drilling in Wilkinson and Amite counties, but several new ones in Wilkinson.  Apparently some of the minerals we own were within one.  I then told him that I had just finalized the leasing of the ones he wanted.  He was said that was fine he would deal with the lease holder.

What I found interesting is that earlier in May I had contacted both these landmen about leasing these minerals and they politely blew me off.  Yet there was or now is interest.

The next set of wells to start production need to report well and the price of oil needs to stay up to make the TMS viable.

Sir:

The oil companies blow like the wind.

A broker gets a call on Thursday and 20 landmen are out of a job by Friday afternoon.

Three months later, they have sold something in Texas, and they are back.

EnCana has proposed 2 wells adjacent to each other north of the Ash Wells in Amite.

Just to the north of the Ash unit?

North/Northwest.

Stacked units of 3 sections (like the Ash) in T1N 2E.

Sections 4,13, 20 and 3,14,and 19.
