EnCana Completes First "Super" Haynesville Shale Well in Natchitoches Parish

EnCana has completed the Semp Russ well in the King Hill Field with a flow rate over 22 MMcfd and flowing pressure above 9600 psi.  This well is similar to the better wells in Red River Parish and shows the high quality area of the play extends into the northwestern portion of Natchitoches Parish.

 

Additional information available on Sonris indicates this well is completed in the Haynesville Shale rather than the Bossier Shale confirming both formations are likely present and productive in this region.

Impressive.  Too bad this well isn't located in the other "northwestern portion" of Natch. P. near Ashland.

Regretfully, I don't have any specific intel on the Goldonna area, per se.  A few months back, I had heard that CHK was continuing to "peanut" lease due east and/or maybe a couple of miles southeast from Ashland.  That's what I was told.  But then it got very quiet.

 

Now, per the 3 wells CHK has drilled near Ashland, it's a waiting game.  Unsure of the facts or what will happen.  There's pros and cons on the info either way.

 

So, it's a wait and see.  Hopefully we'll know before the end of May.

Well turned to sales on 1/18.  Produced(rounded in MCF) 261MM in Jan and 445MM in Feb.

Does this mean that if I have 60 unleased acres a couple of miles Northwest of Semp Russ Pltns - that we are in good shape for the future???

James, I would take it as a positive sign that eventually someone will want to develop that area.  It may be a few years due to the current low natural gas prices.

Denise, the well is about 10 miles to the north-northeast.
