Minerals Under the Lignite Mines
Dolet Hills - DeSoto (Oxford – Red River) Lignite mine
Recent articles about the planned solar farm project that will occupy land formerly a part of the Dolet Hills lignite mine remind me that mineral servitudes or fee land that was later sold creating a mineral servitude by law were imprescriptible and not subject to the ten-year drill it or lose it state mineral code.
Now that the mine has closed, mineral servitude prescription has or will begin again. The mine footprint is proven for economic Haynesville shale and possibly Bossier shale. Any member who owns minerals formerly covered by the mine need to be aware that their mineral ownership did not prescribe but that prescription should be tracked and they should be aware of Haynesville development that might include their mineral interests.
Please spread the word to family and neighbors. This is something that landmen for Haynesville operators have missed in the past including one or more of our members.
