I was told by a land man because of me havings only 17 months left on my original lease that there is a good posibility thatn I could lease my land again before the original lease was up due to the fact that if the original company has not done anything by now they wouldn't have enough time to get the necessary permits etc in order to drill. Is this true? There is no clause for an extension.

In researching the decades-old Tuscaloosa Trend and the immense wealth it has generated for many, I find it deeply troubling that this resource-rich formation runs directly beneath one of the poorest communities in North Baton Rouge—near Southern University, Louisiana—yet neither the university ( that I am aware of)  nor local residents appear to have received any compensation for the minerals extracted from their land.
