Can one of you local guys take a look at the C Hereford survey (Section A-17)? I met with a landman (landlady?) yesterday when my mother-in-law signed her lease, and the landlady said that a pad is being cleared north of 103, about 1.5 miles east of 705. This will not be on the road - maybe 3/4 mile north of 103. Encana should be the one getting ready to drill.

I can tell you there is nothing permitted on that location yet. Thanks for letting us know. I know some folks in that area who will be really happy to hear your news.
Keep us posted on this Steve. Been waiting for some activity in this area.
The location described will be more govt land getting drilled. I see a pattern developing here, another Blackstone well for Encana.
Another Blackstone would be nice farmbrad. Just nice to hear some talk about this area.
farmbrad, there will probably be numerous "Blackstone" wells by EnCana when all is said and done.
What is a "Blackstone" well?
Encana has drilled two wells in San Augustine. The first was Black Stone A-43 because it was located in A. Spear survey, A-43. The second was Black Stone A-398... located in R. Sowell, A-398. If they stick to their pattern and if the new unit contains interests owned by Blackstone Minerals, they should name this well Black Stone A-17.
Your right, at least they're drilling. I guess it's not the end of the world if our lease runs out without a well. Especially since we're being proven as a sweet spot by the BS wells! Thirteen months to go...
EnCana is capable of drilling all of their acreage in that time but it will mean putting a lot of rigs in the field unless they implement the superpad concept in this area. I'd be watching for really large pads being built, I think.

On another note, a well in this area (finally) makes me think of the SWD pad site sitting unfinished on 103 across from the old Stokes location. Now, we know why the interest in a disposal well that far south.
Encana and Devon both have a lot of land leased in this area don't they? It will be interesting to see what develops between them.
jffree1 do they build pads before they permit?
Some do. Others permit first. EOG is building pads ahead of their permits. EnCana, most likely, is also.
