I am trying to find out the status of a supposed well being drilled on some land that I own with my sisters. Essentially the land was leased to Southwestern and then about a year ago they transfered the lease rights to XTO. About a week ago my contact at Southwestern informed me that there was a well in progress on the land and that I should give XTO a call to get the details. After speaking with XTO I am being told by their owners department that they have no record of a well on that Survey. If anyone could shed some insight I would be very appreciative. It is the William H Humphries Survey Abstract No. 138 in San Augustine County.
Thanks for any help!

So I was finally able to connect with a human at XTO and they were able to confirm that the well has been producing since Sept 2011. When I asked why we had not been notified over the past 6 months they said it is because the survey is going through title cleansing to make sure titles are clean. It seems strange to me that we went through a multi-month exhausting process when the land was originally leased by SouthWestern that they now need to go through the process again. She claimed that is could take 9 months or more. Seems kinda crazy to me.
My trail of lack of information seems to be continuing and I still don't quite understand what is going on with the well. After speaking with people at both Southwestern and XTO I was told that the well did in fact start production in Sept 2011 and that I should just wait for division orders to get things moving. I just found the attached PDF which states "Type Well - Temp Abandoned" Does anyone know what this would actually mean. I have revenue figured for Oct / Nov / Dec which show an average monthly revenue of about $700K or so. If anyone could help me understand the attached document I would appreciate it.
Kind regards
It actually looks like production numbers for Jan are posted as well
Southwestern abandoned the well and XTO completed it. The status will be updated before long I imagine.
Here is the IP report for Borders Q 1H.
jffree,
Thank you very much for all your insight. It is invaluable to a novice trying to find their way around in this industry!
What is the normal delay for production data? I was just trying to pull info on lease ID # 261377 and the query says no report on file for April. Is there a time of month that the data usually hits?
Thanks for the help!!!
up to approximately 3 months
It has been my experience that XTO has their wells reported on the 1st day of the month. The lag is two months so you should find April on June 1.
Shale drilling and lithium extraction are seemingly distinct activities, but there is a growing connection between the two as the world moves towards cleaner energy solutions. While shale drilling primarily targets…

AboutAs exciting as this is, we know that we have a responsibility to do this thing correctly. After all, we want the farm to remain a place where the family can gather for another 80 years and beyond. This site was born out of these desires. Before we started this site, googling "shale' brought up little information. Certainly nothing that was useful as we negotiated a lease. Read More |
