Unit Petroleum has picked up 2 year extention options on most of their 3 year leases in J. White, J. Engish, McKey, CL Wharton,  Strickland , and other surveys in NE Shelby near Joaquin that did not have high cost extentions most in the $350 range bonus with  were due to expire in March. CHK on the other hand had a lot of $3000 +range bonus options that they simply let expire in March and I understand plan  same with option due for extention April thru Sept 2011.  The Bossier Shale is lead driver in this area now rather than the Haynesville shale based on the R Hays Dean well IP 8.7 mmcfd in the Bossier. Will be interest to see if any activity occur with the CHK leases that CHK let expire since CHK simple overextend their plate with more acreage than they can drill and has interest else where. If any one had leased with CHK in NE Shelby that expired please post any renewed interest that occurs with your minerals for release.

MARG--did Classic every name this well they getting location ready to drill? Has it been premitted?
Yes, it was previously named as it is well #2---COURTNEY USA #2.  OTHER ONE IS IN DIFFERENT LOCATION, OLD, AND PROBABLY PLAYING AWAY.

I would appreciate any info someone could give us. My mom leased her mineral rights in Shelby County, W.P. Harvey Survey which expired Jun 25, 2011. The lease was for 3 yrs. Leased by Chesapeake. We have not heard anything since we leased 3 yrs. ago. PLEasE HELP!!

Laurie, there isn't anything going on in that area at the moment. There is a 3D seismic study being done to the south of your survey. I have friends who have been unleased since late April in the northern part of Huxley and have not been approached by any O&G company to lease. They must be waiting on the seismic report and the results of the Danube well that is in that area.

I took a look at the woodpecker maps - no woodpeckers or even their managment areas up there. Can't seem to find a way to add the attchment. Any suggestions or pointers (its a jpeg file).

Dbob, if you saved the jpeg to your computer, you can put it directly into a reply by clicking on the photo icon (to the right of "link") in the toolbar.  Or, you can upload the file as an attachment by clicking on "upload files" under the reply box.

With either method, you have to "browse" to where ever you saved the photo, on your computer.

Attached is the map indicating the rough location of the dreaded redcockaded woopeckers located on the north end of the Sabine National Forest.  I've also noted the rough location of the well permit that expired.  As a general rule, USFS prefers strongly that any new sites be at least 1/2 mile from these locations.  Further, there is a part of the forest managed as potential habitat for the birds.  USFS strongly prefers folks avoid that when placing well sites.

Thanks for the map.  It looks (to me) like XTO will have to watch out for woodpeckers around Huxley and south.

I'm sure it will be an issue as they develop their Ellora holdings.  i know Marathon has had some issues in that area as well.

adubu,

The two well pad is in the Nathan A. Middleton A489.  Find county road 3267 (east of hwy 7, at the extreme northwest corner of the national forrest) on google maps, look where 3267 exits the national forrest. At that point follow the forrest service boundary west approximately 2000 ft.  The pad is right on the boundary.

P B -- Got it--that's couple miles south of the R Dean Hays S/L-- hope they drill a Bossier Shale rather than Haynesville compare the Haynesville in R Dean #1 and the Harvey #1H about 6 miles south by CHK. The R Dean Hays #2H is the Bossier better than #1H Haynesville.  Please keep us updated if rig move on it. Check back with your source about bossier vs haynesville test. Thanks you info

If Unit wants to release would for sure get better terms like 25%R and royalty free gas for that where money is-- in the ground. Bonus amount?

Adubu and Prudhoe, there have been some communication problems.  Classic has drilled shale wells, but Courtney 2 USA is being drilled to replace an old well holding a 3500 acre lease. It is going to be a Travis Peak Well and it is, I think, on the Middleton; I have seen a Platt , but did not care about it. Middleton has been drilled before and had dry holes, but they did not have the technology we now have.  It is being drilled on land that has always been landlocked, and they purchased a location from two heirs of an old family there who live out- of -state and in Austin.  They talked a nice person into selling them a ROW to get to the landlocked land, and this person liked Classic so the ROW was granted.  Classic, Maximus, Key, etc. have been good to the people in that area.  They have kept the mailbox money up much more than the larger companies there.

Blankenship is farther south and would be on the Stephen English or maybe J. English. I know one who owns a lot of land down there, and she said the CHK leases expired and they did not renew. If so, it has been within the last month, and I do not think she would take the money they would now offer UNLESS she really deals a good hand. I do know two who have had  good leases this last year, BUT THEY PLAYED THE WAITING AND WORKING A DEAL GAME.  Blankenship Creek Fed. and Ashton Hill Fed. were close to each other.  I  had thought if they were drilled, they would be done back to back.  They are off FM 139 north of Tenaha Bayou.  They were, I am almost positive, CHK.  I thought Petrohawk left our area quite a long while back.  I was with them and they sold out to others.  They had been KCS in our area.  I have been told that KCS had deep rights here though and sold some to Goodrich.  There have been no deep wells drilled out around this, but the Dean well is two plus miles away.  Adubu , you think BIG! LOL This is just a plain TP Well by Classic.
