It appears to me that because of the lack of the square mile section restriction that we have in Louisiana, the laterals of the Shelby Co. wells are significantly longer than in Louisiana. That should equate to a higher IP and EUR. I would think these wells would have to have an EUR of at least 4 billion cu ft to be able to make any $$ at all for the Operator, given current prices and well costs.
I believe that longer laterals are expected in Texas, but I am not aware that many have been drilled yet.
I hope the results are great.
That Mary Harris 1-H well is the top of the class in Shelby County SO FAR.

IP was 12.634 mmcfd and it has produced over 1BCF to date with 5 months of reported production.

That said, there are not yet a lot of other Haynesville/Bossier horizontal completions that have been completed and publically announced for Shelby County to date.

Plenty of new wells currently permitted or drilling and awaiting completion so there should be more info soon from Devon, XTO, Chesapeake, etc over the next few months on these more recent wells that should up the ante once they get reported.

Also, the multiple stacked pay zones (Haynesville, Bossier, Cotton Valley, Angie, Pettet Oil, amongst others) make this a pretty darn interesting region
I too am hoping for good results - my family has minerals in Shelby. I just hope we are not in an area where none of the deep zones will pay. I can't complain - we are getting some decent James Lime production.
Peace #1H shown 1-29-2010 completion : test date 2-18-2010
18/64" choke 6.25 MMCF/day and well head pressure 4680#

for comparison the Mary Harris #1H rate 26/64" choke 12.6 MMCF/day and 4407#
Typical pressures on the Louisiana side on the same size choke (18/64) would be more like 6500-7500# in the Haynesville.
