Do any of the locals know whether this area has been "unitized" and by what company. We are located near the "Woodland Shores" community and currently leased with CHK; no renewals yet.
Any good well reports, or, wells recently spudded?
Any input always appreciated.
Thanks, Shelby

Sorry Shelby, but nothing has been permitted yet for this survey or any other survey within a 5 mile radius. I don't know why Chesapeake didn't drill on all those leases they had in that area. They certainly had enough acreage to do it, and I had heard about a year ago that they were going to drill in your area, but nothing ever has been permitted. The closest land permitted for wells is 2 Chesapeake wells on the west side of Ashton Hill community, and in Huxley, XTO's Danube is supposed to have a rig on the well site by the end of the week. It is on the Shelby Beach road in Huxley.
Etola,
Thanks for sharing the information with me today; We will have to wait and see what they do on in this area.

I really thought Chk was going to drill on their leases but it looks like they are not interested. Hopefully, XTO or one of the companies drilling on the Louisiana side will want to lease the area between Huxley and Joaquin. It may be after they get caught up on drilling their leased land before they look elsewhere. They are going to do another seismic survey (this time a 3D) on the eastern side of Huxley. Last August the entire area underwent a seismic study so I don't know why they are doing another one??? If I see anything going on in your surveys, I'll let you know!
Etola, is the eastern side of Huxley the Sabine River side? I suppose I need to drive over Shelby and look at my directions on my vehicle and GPS. Huh? That is not a very intelligent query! I believe it was 2009 that they did the seismic work. They are doing Joaquin again also; they are looking in 3D from approximately 12,500 to approx.18,000. I have decided that CHK is not going to drill the two federal wells as the permits were ages ago!!! Perhaps, they will flip it to someone else. Although, I understand that some of the deeper rights around Joaquin are owned by CHK. It seems that they are also interested in oil for a change.
Isn't the Blue Danube on FM 139?
The Danube is off FM3172 in Huxlely about 1/4 mile from an old marina called Shelby Beach. You can see it from FM 3172 especially from the hill where the Wimberly Cemetery is. It's quite a sight at night. Looks like Huxley has a skyscraper. LOL MARG, we had a seismic survey done last August (2010) and it covered the entire eastern part of Shelby County. It took months. They started in the spring and it lasted until deer season in the Dreka community. They were in Huxley in August, I remember vividly, because we were trying to get our hay cut and baled and they had the cables across our pasture so I had to move the cables around so I could rake around them. It was 100 degrees that day, and I was not a happy girl! Now they want to do another one, this time 3D, and they will probably wait until hay season.
Thanks dbob and Etola. I suppose that it was in 2010 as my survey would have been done at the same time. I have had papers on other property for 3D but not in that area. Do you know how deep they are looking or is the rumor that they think oil is below the HS Zone?
Good luck with the hay this year!!!!!!
Thanks, MARG! If we don't get rain soon, there won't be any grass to cut. It is getting serious,ly dry here. I haven't heard any new rumors about oil below the HS.
Yes, the letter we got was from Seitel Data but the man who called was from a ph# from San Augustine called Diversified Management. That's all I know about them other than they plan to do a 3D survey. The map they included in the letter showed that they are only surveying the eastern part of Huxley but I don't know how far north of Huxley they are going. My map didn't show that and I haven't ask anyone from that area about it.
My Mom has a 3 year lease that is going to expire in June. It is in the P.W. Harvey Survey. Can someone give me some info on this lease. Is Chespeake gonna renew the lease? Any activity on the property? We have questions we have been trying to get answers for the last 3 years. Can someone please help. Thanks
Shale drilling and lithium extraction are seemingly distinct activities, but there is a growing connection between the two as the world moves towards cleaner energy solutions. While shale drilling primarily targets…

AboutAs exciting as this is, we know that we have a responsibility to do this thing correctly. After all, we want the farm to remain a place where the family can gather for another 80 years and beyond. This site was born out of these desires. Before we started this site, googling "shale' brought up little information. Certainly nothing that was useful as we negotiated a lease. Read More |
