Ms. Conner,
By "Cameron", are you referring to Cameron Parish? If so, the TMS is a non-issue there since it is very very deep and essentially beyond any drilling capability.
Drilling in Cameron Parish confined to limited area conventional reservoirs and O&G traps - usually defined by seismic over the years.
TMS is very thin and therefore uneconomic in the Beauregard Parish area. As Skip has indicated, the primary "deep play" in that Parish would be the Wilcox (overpressured, expensive wells).
Shallower targets in the past have included the Hackberry, Yegua and Frio. Numerous 3D's have been shot to attempt to exploit this and surrounding areas. I was once involved in 3D based drilling program in Jeff David, Allen and Beauregard in the 90's.
I am aware of two wells drilled in the last three years to test the TMS, or the LA Eagleford as some call it, - one in far south Sabine and one in Vernon Parish. Both wells were plugged & abandoned. Those involved with one of the tests told me there were insufficient hydrocarbons present to make a commercial well. The Beauregard Parish production is predominantly Wilcox focused as far as I know.

AboutAs exciting as this is, we know that we have a responsibility to do this thing correctly. After all, we want the farm to remain a place where the family can gather for another 80 years and beyond. This site was born out of these desires. Before we started this site, googling "shale' brought up little information. Certainly nothing that was useful as we negotiated a lease. Read More |
