Do any of you live in another state but hold land in Louisiana? If so, do you have the land as part of a trust and if that is the case, did you have a lawyer in your state of residence prepare the trust or did you have a Louisiana Lawyer prepare the trust. I have been lead to believe that if you develop a trust in another state that includes land in Louisiana that the trust will not be recognized in Louisiana. Any experience with that topic?

I live in Texas...I have a trust prepared by a Louisiana attorney. Louisiana is governed under the French Code..totally different than anyother state. It would behoove ya to have an attorney that knows about the LA..French code law.
I live in Texas and own land in Claiborne Parish.  Although my trust was prepared by a Texas attorney, it was reviewed by a Louisiana attorney to insure that it conforms to Louisiana law, and the document conveying the Louisiana property into the trust was drafted and filed by the Louisiana attorney.  I hope this information is helpful.

This area has suffered immense environmental degradation…
