In researching the decades-old Tuscaloosa Trend and the immense wealth it has generated for many, I find it deeply troubling that this resource-rich formation runs directly beneath one of the poorest communities in North Baton Rouge—near Southern University, Louisiana—yet neither the university ( that I am aware of) nor local residents appear to have received any compensation for the minerals extracted from their land.
This area has suffered immense environmental degradation…

In fact, I am trying to find out where the property actually is located.I understand there may be a thread on one of these sites that tell where sections are located. Plus, the Oil Comanies are getting the landmen to find the landowners. Is this like a sit and wait game? I bet it's crazy over in your area now. I'm in Austin TX and just heard about this last week.
My Wilson line comes from Captain James Wilson who was born in Scotland and came to N. Carolina around 1740. Do you follow your genealogy? My line continues from John Winborn Wilson who married Mary Masse Ryall. Are any of those names a part of your decendants? The Wilson Family is fascinating to learn about. I just heard about this sight and am trying to get used to it. My family has a small piece of property and we're trying to find out more about it. How are you coming along in the information that you're getting?
My mother was born in Shreveport and Wilson was my grandmother's maiden name. We may have more in common than land. Good luck on your endeavers.
