There are a lot of people who put a bunch of time into this site and into The Shale. So, the question is, why? I started out just looking for information for my tax clients and then myself. Then I got into going to area meetings and briefing on tax stuff for H&R Block.
Now I feel like this is more. Not only have I learned a lot, been able to help my clients, and answered some questions (to the best of my ability) for some fellow Shalers; but I feel like I've found someplace to express myself on other subjects without getting flamed. So many places on the 'net you get cussed and flamed to death if you don't go along (or even if you do!), but almost everyone here is pretty polite. Passionate about things, to be sure, but willing to listen to the other side.
This site is also about the other important things that the HS bring to bear besides money. Our future, our environment, our families and even our fun. We are a community that is united by one common cause, but diverse in it's interests, opinions and projects.
Just a shout out to all the members and especially the organizers of this site. Keep up the good work and I can't wait to see where we go next.
