Not sure how this is relevant to Haynesville? Plus it's not clear how a salt injection well (in theory just puts back in one well, at a level approved by the regulators, exactly what came out of another well) would cause fecal coliform bacteria problems. Those poor guys near that place definitely need help but it's not because of proximity to a well-operated salt water disposal well. (some one from an operator care to comment?)

Best,

Joel

(The rest of this cut off)

Take a look at TXRRC site and see how many Salt Water Injection wells there are in TX. The risk of contamination is great for a lot of people in many communities. As long as the TXRRC continues to deem "injection wells" as "safe" and millions of gallons of the contaminated water from well production is injected at high pressure, underground, we can expect more of these type of stories.

Yes, in Panola County (De Berry is east of the county seat of Carthage). Yes, there were many articles on water contamination issues in De Berry several years ago.....just not in the local media. It involved a Salt Water Injection well. Contamination is always at issue for everyone where drilling occurs. Yes there are other compounds in the "salt water". In other industries and states those same compounds are considered very hazardous. However, the oil companies and state of TX deem them safe and not an issue. It would be too great of an impediment to development of the resources (drilling and production) and an economic burden to the state not to allow the use of and disposal of the compounds. The reality is the enviromental and health issues are just part of the cost and burden the communities and residents receiving the economic benefits must bear.

De Berry Texas is about nine miles from the Louisiana state line on Hwy 79, between Carthage and Bethany
