Anyone know anything about the Airport Annex area? That is the area between Barksdale Blvd. and the river.

If you're curious about the "airport" in airport annex, well this is what I've been told before but I haven't researched it. Barksdale Blvd. was designated many years back by the Air Force or Airport authorities as a back up runway for landing the planes in the event of emergency of some sort. If you take all the cars off the roads, ignore the all the street lights you have a nice long, straight pavement perfect for landing planes safely. Barksdale was the only roads in Bossier available for the longest time but after the construction of the Teague Pkwy, it looks like they've got (2) good runways now. I think clyde fant pkwy is also a back-up runway (maybe, just a guess). I guess considering that Bossier has one of the important air force bases in the country, they feel the need to construct our town with a few extra runways. And we thought they teague pkwy was built for our convenience. I'm guessing the city owns some of the property along the annex, but I'm sure the state owns it's share as well. Hope this helps.

This area has suffered immense environmental degradation…
